Kōichi started to make mezzotint (i.e., intaglio) prints in the mid-1950s. Ten of his prints which feature flowers and (or) birds are shown in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Kōichi made his flower and bird subjects look very elegant by elongating and smoothing their shapes and by simplifying their natural, complex color patterns.
